A Jasper County lad has joined the ranks of the "Bigs".  Ross Wolf was brought up by the Florida Marlins this past Friday to join the ranks of their relief pitchers.  He is the grandson of Howard Wolf. Submitted by Tom Dougherty '60 on 8/12/2007

Ask and you shall receive.  A huge thanks goes out to all of the folks who helped put this together and send it to me.  You might see your Mother or Father, Grandmother, Grandfather, Great Grandmother, Great Grandfather or a Brother, Sister or Cousin here.  The year is 1935The classes represented are 1935, 1936, 1937 and 1938.  This addition now gives us 70 years of representation at NCHS.  How cool is that?  To start enjoying this, CLICK HERE.

The 2006 Homecoming Parade went off without a hitch other than for a few rain drops but who noticed with all of the good music and pretty girls.  Congratulations to the 2006 Newton High School Football Team for winning their Homecoming football game, 40 to 10, against Salem High School. A REAL GREAT game was missed by those who didn't attend. 2006 Newton High School Football Team.... AS OF 10/28/2006,  the  team is undefeated for the season. 9-0    How proud are we of that Alumni?  NCHS Football team loses 17-14 to Breese Mater Dei in the Quarter Final playoff game. Congratulations to a great season for this 2006-2007 team.

Congratulations to the Class of 1956 who celebrated their 50 Year Class Reunion.  A "good lookin" bunch of kids walked out onto the football field at halftime for all to cheer.  For full details, visit their website by Clicking Here

Jasper County, Illinois--A Pictorial History  For those of you who might be interested or not aware of this book.  It is a 8 1/2 X 11 inch hardbound book with smyth-sewn binding, printed on high quality, acid-free paper, 224 pages and is loaded with more than 900 pictures, some never before seen dating back to the late 1800's thru 2005 of Newton, Jasper County, surrounding towns, buildings, churches, schools, school pictures, family pictures, etc.  I ordered my copy over a year ago and it just came out about a month ago.  Orders are thru the Newton Press-Mentor @ (618) 783-2324.  Price is $42.95 plus $6.50 for postage.  If you're from Jasper county you'll love to have a copy of this book.
