There's a NCHS-NFL connection this pre-season. Punter-kicker Truman Spencer has been with the San Diego Chargers since mid-may. He's the son of Mark ('61) and Jennifer Spencer, grandson of Tom and Virginia Spencer ('41) and nephew of Marsha Spencer Gearing ('66).

As a walk-on at the University of North Texas, Truman was a four-year starter, three-time special-teams player of the year and Sunbelt All-Conference his senior year. He holds conference records for most punts and most punting yardage and all University of North Texas weight-room records for punters-kickers. He was married in July, 2009 to Tanya Yarbrough, also a University of North Texas grad and they are expecting a child in 2010.
